Born & raised in Oxnard, CA. At a young age Joel had a love for art & design. His biggest influence and mentor was his father. His father served as a US Navy Seabee Draftsman & Illustrator. Joel learned to be creative & think outside the box when it comes to design and other ventures. He first went to a university to pursue engineering. Soon he found that he didn't care for the subject and found himself going into Graphic Design. From that point on Joel tried to always have some aspect of art & design in his life. His motto: 'Art & design is all around us in our everyday life. As an artist, I always keep an open eye & an open mind to capture it.' Joel lived & worked as a Graphic Designer in Southern California, Virginia, Washington D.C. and now finds himself a new Northern California transplant in the Bay Area.
Joel was one of five pioneering artists to start the Downtown Ventura Streetscape Project in 2007 by painting a utility box along Main Street of downtown. Today, almost all utility boxes have been painted with beautiful artwork, thanks to this program. His artwork has also been featured in the Ventura Coastal Community Hospital as well as St. Wilfrid's Episcopal Church in Huntington Beach, CA.
